Roy Smith, CEO Snikwah Worldwide
Shenzhen tested the following colors: white, black, grey, blue, yellow, pink, red, orange, teal, blue camo sublimation and the pink camo sublimation.
According to a release from Snikwah Worldwide CEO Roy Smith, "Snikwah was awarded the highest rating possible, greater than 50 UPF factor on all colors except white and the sublimation blends which use white as the base material. The white blends tested an unheard-of over 44+ UPF."
It is very rare for the majority of an ecological textile line to receive a 50+ UPF rating. Most commercially available fabrics including specialty fabrics fall well below of this Gold Standard in skin protection. Clothing is our first line of defense against the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and Snikwah has you covered on all fronts; it is long-sleeved, has the a convertible neck for head and neck coverage, carrying a 50+ UPF rating. According to expert Dr. Wang, Director of Dermatologic Surgery and Dermatology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, "SPF 50 keeps out 98 percent of UVB rays, allowing the highest protection available. If you are light-sensitive, or have a history of skin cancer, every a single percentage point makes a significant difference." According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, "With nearly 3.7 million skin cancers diagnoses in the US annually, extra protection is a must." The Snikwah Original provides ideal protection for surfing, boating, SUP, skateboarding, motorcycling and anyone working or playing outside.
For the past three years, head-to-toe sun protection is commonly promoted by an array of specialty clothing companies and has become an important component for the active wear consumers' buying decision. Here are a few of the top competitors in the active wear marketplace and their published fabric UPF ratings:
